TAUNTON – Antonio A. “Tony” Costa, a lifelong Taunton resident, died at Longmeadow of Taunton on Oct. 28, 2013.
He was 92.
He was the husband of the late Dorothy T. (Prairie) Costa, to whom he was married for 63 years.
Born in Taunton, Tony was the son of the late Manuel and Mary (Nunes) Araujo Costa.
Educated in Taunton schools, he later served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WW II.
Tony was employed by Taunton’s former Haskon Aerospace, where he worked as a maintenance man for 35 years.
He retired many years ago.
An avid sports fan, Tony especially enjoyed the Red Sox and Patriots. Survivors include his son, Barry Costa and his wife Antonietta; his daughter, Gail Corrao; his brother Frank Costa; and his sister, Mary Coelho, all of Taunton; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father-in-law of the late Kenneth Corrao, and the brother of the late Louie, Harry and Joseph Costa, and the late Katherine Gregor.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, Nov. 2nd at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. R
