Henry “Hank” L. Caron, husband of Jean Mare Rochna-Caron, son of the late Henry A. and Louise (Ouellette) Caron was called to his eternal rest on September 20, 2013.
He was born and raised in Peabody, MA where he graduated from St. John’s Grammar School and Peabody High, class of 1955, where he played full back position on the football team.
He attended Cameron College in Lawton, OK and also served in the U.S. Submarine Reserve. Henry was a Ballroom Dance Instructor in Boston; Asbury Park, NJ; Toronto, Canada; and Wichita Falls, TX. He also performed at resort areas, hotels, and supper clubs.
Caron had the distinction of being a winner and Medalist for Latin dancing at Carnegie Hall in New York in 1960.
He owned Caron’s Diner in Salem with his brother Norman, worked as Food Manager at IRS in Andover, Wheelock College in Boston, and Raytheon Systems in Bedford, Assistant Dietary Director at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, and JB Thomas Hospital in Peabody. He was also the Program Director at the Salem Council on Aging.
After leaving Peabody he lived in Salem, and moved to Naples, FL in 2004.
Hank is survived by two sons Kurt and Eric Caron of Salem. Three sisters: Gloria Purdy of Beverly, Marie Dzierzanowski, and Carol Julien both of Litchfield, NH, also many nieces, nephews, and his former wife Barbara (Cashman). Seven step-children: Kim Buttolph, Candis Bolden, Roxanne, Lance, Heidi, Leif, and Rhett Rochna; nine step-grandchildren, and two step-great grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by brothers Lawrence, Roger, Bernard, Richard, and Norman Caron and sisters Margarette DiThomas and Patricia Price.
