Frederick T. Black, a 10 year resident of Wakefield and formerly of Allston and Westford, entered into eternal life peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading after a 4 year courageous battle with cancer. He was 52 years old.
Fred was born in Melrose on July 28, 1961, a son of Madelyn A. (Magennis) Black and Eugene E. Black. He grew up in Westford where he was educated in the Westford Public School system and graduated from Westford Academy in 1979. Fred worked as a laborer for a construction company. Fred's passions in life included painting, drawing, sketching, gardening, building and playing his harmonica.Fred took great comfort in speaking to others like himself who were fighting personal demons in life. He was a devoted friend of Bill W.
Fred is the beloved son of Madelyn A. (Magennis) Black of Melrose and Eugene E. Black of New Hampshire. He is the devoted brother of Eugene E. Black Jr. and his spouse Dan of Holyoke, Madelyn Bry and her husband Mark of Milton, New Hampshire, Margaret Sammataro of Malden, Kathleen Guerra and her husband Sean of Dracut and Diana Fondulis and her husband Nick of Saugus. He is the loving uncle to Cherishe Chesley and her husband Matthew, Brendan, Colin and Cameron Sammataro, Tianna, Jacob and Daniel Guerra, Sophia, Alexander and Lukas Fondulis and the late Meaghan Sammataro. He is the great-uncle to Matthew. He is the dear friend of Laura Broding of Wakefield.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Fred's visiting hours on Wednesday morning, October 30, 2013 from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by his Funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 11 A.M. Interment is private.
