Obituary

George Milton Banks, 92, of Mystic died Friday, October 25, 2013 at Westerly Hospital. He was born July 25, 1921 in Montville, CT, the son of Alfred and Maud (Bogue) Banks. He attended local schools and graduated from Fitch High School in 1939.

He married Nellie Geyer in March of 1942 in Old Mystic, CT. She predeceased him on September 8th of this year after over 71 years of marriage.

Mr. Banks served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He saw duty in the South Pacific aboard the light cruiser USS San Juan (CL54). He was a member of VFW Post 3263 in Mystic for over 60 years and was a past Post Commander. He worked at Pfizer for 30 years, retiring in 1980.

He is survived by his son, George M. Banks, of Mystic. In addition to his wife, his brothers, Robert and Carlisle Banks predeceased him.

Family and friends are asked to gather for a Graveside Service on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 1:00pm in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic.
