Triantafilia “Phyllis” (Leonardos) Marketos, 87, of Johnston, RI died Friday, October 25th in Rhode Island Hospital. Her husband, Dionysios Marketos died in 1985. She is survived by her son, James Marketos and his wife, Lena of Fairfield, CT; and her daughter, Dina Musa and her husband, Talat with whom she lived; eight grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Dimitrios Leonardos.
She was born in Athens, Greece the daughter of Konstantinos and Ekaterina Leonardos and came to Worcester in 1966, before moving to Johnston, RI, where she resided for the past 26 years. Mrs. Marketos had been employed as a seamstress for several Worcester textile companies before retiring. Phyllis enjoyed knitting, crocheting and the company of her pet cats; but most of all time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and babysitting her great-grandchildren.
Her funeral is Tuesday, October 29th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a funeral service at Noon in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. A visitation period will be held from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m the day of the funeral in the funeral home.
