Joseph C. Richard, 87, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Dorothy M. (Deady) Richard and they had been married for 64 years.
Born in and a lifelong resident of Providence, he was a son of the late Michael A. and Eva (Doyle) Richard. He was baptized as Giuseppe Carlos Ricciuti but was known to all as Joseph Richard.
Mr. Richard was the general foreman for the City of Providence, DPW for 28 years until retiring. He was a member of Local Union 1033. He loved boating, fishing and camping.
His is also survived by his children: Robert and William Richard of Providence, John Richard, Jo-Ann DeBiasio and Linda Thompson all of Warwick and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Michael and Joseph Jr., grandfather of the late Raymond Thompson, Jr., and brother of the late Michael P. Richard.
His funeral was private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Roger Williams Medical Center, 825 Chalkstone Avenue, Providence, RI 02908.
