Paxton – Gerard “Gerry” B. Harney, 77 of 674 Pleasant St. died on Tuseday September 21 in his home after an illness.
Mr. Harney is survived by his wife Frances E. (Llobell) Harney of Paxton; a son Dennis Harney of Paxton; two daughters Kathleen Hubbell and Rosemary Maliszewski both of Worcester; a brother William Harney of Auburn; three sisters Theresa Harney and Mary Harney both of Paxton and Eleanora Russell of Holden; two step children Linda Rowley of Yardley, PA and John Maccabee of Fort Stewart, GA; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Mr. Harney is predeceased by his first wife Dorothy (Pierce) Harney who died in 1992.
He was born in Paxton son of Thomas and Mildred (Francisco) Harney and lived there all of his life. Mr. Harney is a veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Navy.
Mr. Harney was a self employed plumber and heating contractor for many years. He was a member of St. Columba Church, the Paxton American Legion Post and the Auburn Lodge of Elks where he was a past Exalted Ruler.
The funeral will be held Friday September 24 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.Royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond St. Worcester with a mass at 11:30 AM in St. Columba Church 18 Richards Ave. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park. A calling period will be held from 9 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home on Friday September 24. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Columba Church 10 Richards Ave. Paxton, MA 01612.
