Obituary

Sylvio M. Chaput, 89, of Manchester, died October 20, 2013 at his home after a period of declining health.
He was born in Bedford on November 20, 1923 to Joseph and Aurelia (Beaudet) Chaput. He graduated from the New Hampshire School of Accounting and Commerce and lived in Manchester for most of his life.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Chaput was the owner and operator of Chap’s Foodland for many years. He had locations in Manchester and Pinardville.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic War Veterans, League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood and the Pinardville Lions Club. He was also a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and had served on the parish council.
He enjoyed traveling and taking cruises and was well known for his 4th of July family celebrations.
He was predeceased by his wife, Graciosa A. (Chouinard) Chaput in 2004, his daughter, Madeleine S. Lessard in 2008 and 10 brothers and sisters.
The family includes two children, Annette S. Provencher and her husband, Albert, of Merrimack and Gerard J. Chaput and his wife, Donna, of Bedford; a son in law, Jacques Lessard of Manchester; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Monique Chamberlain of Manchester; a brother, Raymond Chaput and his wife, Cynthia, of Virginia Beach, VA; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Sacred Heart Church, 265 So. Main St., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
