WORCESTER-William F. Banks, Sr., 90 formerly of 38 Oakland Street, Spencer and Circuit Avenue, Worcester died Tuesday, September 21st in UMass Memorial Hospital. He leaves his wife of 68 years Louise D. (Ring) Banks, 3 sons William F. Banks, Jr. of Holden, John D. Banks of Sutton and Stephen R. Banks of Worcester, a daughter Penny L. McGonagle of Saco, ME, 8 grandchildren, William Banks III, Katrina Binici, Stephanie Robertson, Lisa, Michelle and Stephen Banks, and Timothy and Marybeth McGonagle.

He was born in Worcester the son of William M. and Sophia (Carlsen) Banks. Mr. Banks was a graduate of South High School. He had been a grocer for many years and had last operated Banks’ Farm Center. Before that Mr. Banks owned and operated New Model Market. Upon his retirement he worked for 10 years at Van’s Paint and Wallpaper. He was a former member of the Worcester Cribbage Club, and was an avid fisherman.

The funeral is Thursday, September 23rd, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 5 Spaulding Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, September 22nd from 5:00 until 9:00 PM in the funeral home.
