Robert J. Papp, 71, of Franklin died October 20, surrounded by his family in his home following a long illness.
He was the husband of Marena (Saster) Papp for the past 25 years and had been the husband of the late Clarice E. (Cottam) Papp.
Born in Malden, April 29, 1942, the son of the late Gustave and Louise (Ernst) Papp, Mr. Papp was raised in Somerville and had lived in Franklin for over 40 years.
Mr. Papp had been a foreman for the RACKO Company as a storage rack installer.
Mr. Papp was a talented candle pin bowler who had been a professional bowler for many years.
Bob was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics, listening to Bob Seeger and enjoyed going to Foxwoods.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Robert J. Papp, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Franklin, Cindy Papp O’Toole and her husband Steven of Northbridge, Melissa Papp Hallett and her husband Robert of Franklin, Matthew Papp of North Attleboro, Richard A. Shaw and his wife Audra of Hopedale, Robert Shaw of Bellingham, Holly Shaw of North Attleboro. He was the father of the late Michael Papp.
He is also survived by his sister Priscilla Papp Neumann of Franklin and was the brother of the late Steven Papp.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law Ronda Papp of New York.
He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday October 24 in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street Franklin at 10:00.
Burial will be in Union Street Cemetery, Franklin.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8.
