Auburn – Joan A. Minka, 80, of Auburn, MA and formerly of So. Yarmouth and Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at her home after a long illness surrounded by her loving husband and family. A Mass to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 10 AM in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 189 Oxford St. N, Auburn, MA. Burial will be private.
Joan was born in Trenton, NJ, grew up in Mt. Holly, NJ and later moved to Worcester, MA in 1948. Joan was currently a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Auburn and previously belonged to St. Pius X Church in So. Yarmouth for over 30 years. She enjoyed many things throughout her life, especially spending time with her family, friends, playing “Bingo” and being a member of the Polish Society of Cape Cod. We will miss her brilliant sense of humor and extraordinary sense of compassion.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Louis T. Minka. She was the loving mother of four children Theresa Jefferson and her husband Paul of Sturbridge, MA; Thomas Minka and his wife Beth of San Rafael, CA; Robert Minka and his wife Kristy of Pleasant Hill, CA; and Linda Krasnoo and her husband Eric of Westfield, NJ. She was the dearest grandmother of eight, great-grandmother of seven and a special Godmother to Kimberly Drozd of Holden, MA. Joan also leaves a host of very special nieces, relatives and many dear friends.
