Obituary

T. Jerry Milan 80, of Peabody, died Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Pilgrim Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Peabody, following a long illness. He was the husband of Pauline M. (Fortin) Milan, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Helen (Jaffke) Milan. He joined the Navy during the Korean Conflict and in 1953 married Pauline. Following his tour of duty the couple settled in Salem and he began working as a mechanic for Cote’s Garage in Salem. At one time he owned Jerry’s Auto Service in Beverly and later worked for the Witt Armstrong Co. An automotive mechanic for his entire career, he retired from Laidlaw Transportation Co. Jerry was a long time friend of Bill W.

In addition to his wife Pauline, he is survived by three sons, Michael T. Milan, T. Jay Milan both of Peabody, Steven L. Milan and his wife Karen of Saugus, a daughter Mary Anne ‘Mia’ Rocheville and her husband Robert of Lawrence, two brothers, Walter Milan of Illinois and Keith Baer of South Carolina, He is also survived by ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews and longtime friend Paula Lareau of Salem. He was predeceased by his sister Julie Smith.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 8:45 A.M. to be followed by his funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10:30 A.M. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be in Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in Ste. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
