Obituary

Ellen E. (McKeon) Blanchard, 86, of Paxton, formerly of Worcester, died Saturday, October 12th. Her husband of 40 years, Philip J. Blanchard, Jr. died in 1991. She is survived by four sons, Philip J. Blanchard, III and his wife, Lynne of Pittsfield, Michael A. Blanchard and his wife, Norma of Manchester, NH, Matthew C. Blanchard and his wife, Marcia of Leicester, Andrew J. Blanchard and his wife, Elizabeth of Andover; two daughters, Ellen Potter and her husband, Charles of Harpers Ferry, WV and Mary A. Blanchard of Washington, D.C.; fourteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother, Edward P. McKeon of Worcester. Three brothers, James R., Francis X. and Matthew C. McKeon and three sisters, Mary Hanratty, Winifred Werme, and Anne Costello predeceased her.
Mrs. Blanchard was born in Stoughton and raised in Cherry Valley, MA. She was the daughter of James and Alice (Trainor) McKeon, graduated from Leicester High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s of Education from Worcester State College. Mrs. Blanchard had been a teacher for the Leicester Public School System for 25 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church for nearly 50 years and The Guild of Our Lady of Providence for over twenty years.
Her funeral is Wednesday, October 16th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Leicester. Calling hours are Tuesday, October 15th from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mustard Seed, 93 Piedmont Street, Worcester, MA 01609
