WORCESTER-Bertha L. (Duncan) Coleman, 74, formerly of Laurel Street, died Friday, September 17th in Christopher House. She leaves a goddaughter, Fannie L. May Humphries of Worcester, 3 brothers, Arthur and David Caddell both of AL and Cleotha Duncan, Jr. of OH, 4 sisters, Mary Horton, Creamy McKinney, Elizabeth Sargent and Annie Samclark all of Worcester, 6 stepsons, Johnny Avery and M.C. Coleman, Jr. both of AL, Larry, Jerry and Ricky Coleman all of Worcester and Melvin Coleman of CA, 4 stepdaughters, Linda Dussey and Patricia Coleman both of Worcester, Julia Foster and Lorraine Coleman both of AL, several nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. Two brothers, Ezekie Caddell, Jr. and Edward Caddell predeceased her.
She was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, AL the daughter of Cleotha Duncan and Odie (Bouyer) Caddell and lived in New York prior to moving to Worcester in 1971. Mrs. Coleman was a nurse’s aide at Lincoln Nursing Home for several years and was also a babysitter for several area families. She was a member of Elks Lodge #36.
The funeral is Friday, September 24th with a service at Noon in Second Baptist Church, 14 Hammond Street. Burial is in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held from 11:00 to Noon in church the morning of the funeral. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is directing arrangements.
