Kenneth Elbert Mathena, 76, of Tifton died Monday, October 7, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at Bradley’s Funeral Home in Marion, Virginia and burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery in Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Mathena was born on June 3, 1937 in Marion, Virginia and was the son of Robert Mathena and Ollie Mae Parsons Mathena, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Testerman and Goldie Richardson. He came to Tifton as the manager of Roses Department Store and was the owner of Frames and Things in Downtown Tifton. He was a member of the Tifton Elks Lodge, where he was a former G.E.R.
Mr. Mathena is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Tammy Mathena of Greenville, South Carolina; one daughter, Karen Mathena of Switzerland; two brothers, Donald Mathena and Robert Mathena, both of Marion, Virginia; and two grandchildren, Matthew Mathena and Sarah Mathena.
