FRANKLIN- David C. Majeau, 71, of Franklin, New Hampshire died Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia .
The son of Conrad and Fedora (Bouthilette) Majeau, he was born February 4, 1942 in Lowell , Massachusetts and attended local schools. After graduating from Chelmsford High School he moved to Nashua , N.H. where he owned and operated “The Skillet” restaurant, establishing the work ethic that would follow him throughout his life. He later relocated to Tilton , N.H. where he ran Dave's Auto, a successful autobody shop.
An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting, boating on Lake Winnipesaukee and downhill skiing including hiking the southeast face of Mount Washington to ski Tuckerman Ravine. He loved dogs and spent countless hours training his Doberman Pinchers and German Shepherds. He later turned that hobby into a vocation, operating Tilton K-9, a boarding and training facility. He willingly shared his insight into canine behavior with his many customers and helped them meet their training goals whether to make their dog a better family companion or competitor in obedience trials.
He also bred German Shepherds and was happiest when he had the chance to play with the young pups. He was forced into retirement 13 years ago after suffering complications from surgery to repair a leaky heart valve.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Carignan, two step-daughters, Bailey and Sydney Carignan; a brother, Robert Majeau and his wife, Doreen, and two nephews, Michael and Matthew Majeau, all of Chelmsford, MA. At David's request, there will be no funeral service or calling hours. His ashes will be interred at Heart Pond Cemetery in Chelmsford , MA .
