Joseph J. Consolino, of Jupiter Florida, former proprietor of Allen and Littles Office Supply, Boston, died Wednesday in the New England Medical Center, after a long illness. He was 69.
Born in Boston’s West End, he was the son of Mary (Silvestro) and the late James Consolino. Raised in both the West End and Medford, Joseph enlisted in the Air Force and served during the Korean War. During his time in the service he was the champion “fly-weight” boxer for the Air Force. While stationed in Japan, Joseph met his wife Kunie Kaneko. The couple settled in Medford, after the War.
To raise their children, Joe and Kunie moved to Pembroke where Joseph became active in community affairs. He served on the School Committee, the town Planning Board and was an active member of Saint Thecla Parish. Joseph was also a past President of the Pembroke Lions Club.His long and productive business career included positions as sales manager with Dow Chex and Lytton industries. Joseph and his wife also operated Stevens Market, a variety store in Brookline and for many years owned and operated Allen and Littles Office Supply in Boston. He retired in 1989.
He was the beloved husband of Kunie (Kaneko) Consolino with whom he shared nearly 50 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to James Consolino and his wife Mary of FL, Catherine Consolino of San Francisco, Maria Caines and her husband Sunshine of the West Indies, Joseph Consolino, Jr and his wife Kellie of AZ. He was a cherished son of Mary (Silvestro) Consolino and the late James of Medford. He was a loving grandfather to Daniel, Jason, Christine, Jennifer, Mandela, Joseph and a dear brother to Richard Consolino of Medford, Camille Mazzoni of RI, Joyce Gatta of Woburn, Linda Mendes of NH and the late James.
A funeral service will be celebrated in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford, Saturday evening at 7:30. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours Saturday 4 – 8 PM. Interment private.
