Douglas—Family and friends mourn the loss of Jacob Henry Bachand, 14 years’ old, who died in an accident Tuesday afternoon, September 14, 2004, in Douglas. Jake’s rare ability to interact meaningfully with people of all ages made him unique. His love and zest for life radiated from his body and brought joy to all he met. As put best by Patty Hallczuk, “Jake had such unconditional love just oozing out of him!”
Jake’s love for four-wheeler riding was immense, as was his ability to ride. He loved the peacefulness and tranquility of Lambert Lake, Maine and his family with every ounce of his being. He was a good student and loved all sports, especially hockey, where he was member of the Midstate Junior Ice Cats, #19. Also, he had a fine tenor voice and recently was chosen to perform in an acappella ensemble to be led by a man Jake loved and admired, Mr. D.
Jake’s parents are Alan R. and Linda M. (Richardson) Bachand. His brothers are Joshua A. Bachand and Kane C. Bachand, both of Douglas. He was predeceased by his sister, Renee M. Bachand, who died in 1980. His paternal grandmother is Denise Bachand of Shrewsbury, his maternal grandmother is Jane A. Richardson of Falmouth, and his grandfather is Blaine Grass of Maine. His special love is Ashley Littlefield of NH. He loved his dog, Croix. He has many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Calling hours will be held from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, in Zion Lutheran Church, 70 Main St., Oxford. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, in the church. Jake would like all to know that he’ll see you out on the trails, out there on Mag-adooly, up on hippy-hill, or down at the land from the sparkles on the water.
