Veronica (Gula) Bumpus, 86, of New Bedford died Wednesday September 15, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Kenneth C. Bumpus.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Skawinska) Gula, she had lived in New Bedford for all of her life.
Mrs. Bumpus was a member of the Y.M.C.A. She and her late husband were active square dancers who traveled the country attending many square dance conventions and were members of the Romeo & Juliet's and the Seaside Steppers.
Survivors include a daughter, Maureen Perry, and her husband Robert, of Dartmouth; a brother, John Gula of Fall River; a sister, Adele Sherman of New Bedford; a grandson, Ryan Perry, and his wife Lisa of Dartmouth; two great-grandchildren, Hailey Perry and Ethan Perry; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Kathleen Spulock and sister of the late Mitchell Gula.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday September 20, 2004 at 9:30 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours will be on Sunday September 19, 2004 from 5-8 PM.
