Obituary

Bridgewater - Clifford E. Waite, 82, of Bridgewater died Sunday at Brockton Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Dolores B. (Pomponio) Waite.

Born May 2, 1922, in Norwood, he was the son of the late Arthur and Elsie (Hallberg) Waite.

Mr. Waite grew up in Norwood and had been a Bridgewater resident for the past 33 years, coming from Dedham.

He graduated from Fisher College with an associate’s degree in business.

Mr. Waite was a manager of the Fleet operation in Brockton.

A 24 year service U.S. Marine Corp. veteran, he was a gunnery sergeant and had served in the Pacific Ocean during World War II and also served during Korean War.

Mr. Waite was a member of the Top 3 Military Associates of Abington, Postal Supervisor Association in Brockton and a member of the American Legion VFW of Brockton.

He was an avid bowler and bingo player.

He is survived by two daughters, Donna M. Clark and her husband Lee of Houston, Texas, and Cynthia S. Aaron and her husband Andrew of South Dartmouth; his companion of 24 years, Christine Wambolt of Bridgewater; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Arthur and Chester Waite.

His funeral will be held at 8:15 a.m. Friday from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 9 a.m. Burial in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.
