Louis A. Choiniere Jr., age 82, passed away at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013. He was born on July 24, 1931 in Holyoke. His parents were the late Louis A. and Ella (Burke) Choiniere. He was a lifelong member of Nativity B.V.M. Church and the League of Sacred Heart. He was currently a communicant of St Anthony of Padua Church. He was a Navy Veteran serving on the USS Salem during the Korean War. He worked as an electrician and Government Contractor at Westover Air Reserve Base for many years before he retired. He enjoyed playing cribbage locally. He was a volunteer at the Willamansett substation for the Chicopee Police Department. He is predeceased by his wife Yvette (Cote), his grandson Justin and his sister Honorine Giroux. He leaves four sons, Alan and his wife Ann-Marie of Stratham, NH, Paul and his wife Janet of Hadley, John and his fiancé Kathy Matroni of Feeding Hills and Kenneth of Chicopee; two daughters, Marie Bienvenue of Wilbraham and Lisa Choiniere of Chicopee along with 7 beloved grandchildren Joshua, Jason, Jeffrey, Rachel, Matthew, Vanessa and Alec and four great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on the morning of the funeral, Friday Oct. 4, 2013 from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St Anthony of Padua Church at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Mass.
