Obituary

Mrs. Anna M. (Wons) Polin, a lifelong resident of Medford and beloved wife of the late William Polin, passed away at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. She was 93 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on April 21, 1920, she was the beloved daughter of the late Elias and Victoria (Bechta) Wons. Mrs. Polin was a graduate of Medford High School and Fay Business School in Boston. She worked as a secretary for several small local companies and a larger insurance company in Boston. With four children, Anna did a lot of cooking and baking. Her homemade root beer was a treat. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, but her real passion was sewing and over the years she made many clothes for her children. She enjoyed summers at the family cottage by the lake in Tyngsboro. Cape Cod vacations, with a family reunion mixed in, were some of her favorite times. She loved her independence, and was often seen driving around town doing errands in her white Chevy SUV. She was still driving at the age of 90! She liked to keep things simple and take life one day at a time. Her family was her greatest treasure.
She was the loving mother of William A. and his wife Janice E. Polin of Westwood, Patricia P. and her husband George Wyhinny of S. Barrington, IL, Barbara A. and her husband Alan P. Flowers of Braintree and Joseph A. and his wife Cathy A. Polin of Tyngsboro, cherished grandmother of William and his wife Celia, Matthew and his wife Elizabeth and Gregory and his wife Ashley Polin, George and Andrew Wyhinny, and James, Kristen, Daniel and Julianne Flowers, and Joseph, Lindsay and Michael Polin, dear great-grandmother of Marianna, Matthew, John and William.
Her funeral was held from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Friday, October 4, 2013, at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden at 10 AM.
