METHUEN – Alphonse “ Al” D. Michaud, 87 of Methuen passed away peacefully on Monday September 30, 2013 at the Wingate at Haverhill.
Born and educated in Lawrence, MA, he was the son of Alfred and Regina (Guilmette) Michaud, he attended St. Anne’s Grammar School and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy serving aboard the U.S.S. Chipola as a gunners mate involved in several engagements in the South Pacific.
After serving his country, Alphonse returned and for more than 50 years was employed at the Eagle Tribune in North Andover as a print and ad setter until his retirement. For many years he served as treasurer for the Lawrence Typographical Union.
Al and his wife Caroline spent many happy summers vacationing with their children and grandchildren at Salisbury Beach and Maine. They also spent enjoyable winters in Jupiter, Florida with their longtime friends.
Al is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Caroline (Schlott) Michaud of Methuen; daughters paula Andrade and her husband Gus also of Methuen, Karen Moran and her husband Sean of Damariscotta, Maine.
One sister Edna Roy of Tewksbury, MA and one brother Richard Michaud of New York.
Five grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Katie Andrade of Stoneham, MA, Allison and her husband Danny Whall of Wakefield, MA, Brendan, Patrick and Kathleen Moran all of Damariscotta, Maine.
Several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours for family and friends will be Thursday from 3:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA 01844. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9:15a.m. in St. Monica’s Church in Methuen with burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
