Diane L. “Bubbie” (Bean) Sandberg, 70, died Saturday, September 28, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Chester Sandberg.
Born in Somerville on January 22, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Catherine (Quinn) Bean. She resided in Medford and Billerica for many years and has lived in Andover for the last ten years. She was a graduate of St. Clements High School in Medford. She received her degree as a registered nurse and worked for many years at the Veteran’s Hospitals in Bedford and Jamaica Plain.
Diane was a devoted, caring, and nurturing mother and grandmother. The time she spent with her grandchildren was what especially brought her the most joy. Diane was their biggest cheerleader. She was always there to encourage and motivate them to do the things that they wanted to do. She was their “Bubbie” and will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Steven Colby; her cherished grandchildren, Moorea, Noah, Chloe and Sophie Colby all of Andover and her childhood friends with whom she maintained lifelong friendships with.
A funeral Mass for Diane was held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover at 10 AM. Calling hours were held on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment was held in the Fox Hill Cemetery in Billerica.
