Obituary

Edd White Paulk, 89, of Tifton died Sunday, September 29, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. Wayne Roe and Rev. Tim Paulk will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Joel Paulk, Rahn Williams, Jonathan Paulk, Robert Gartman, Jimmy Tyson, and Cal Carpenter will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Old Friends Music Group, Retired Postal Workers and the Lamar Branch Sunday school class of Tifton’s First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Paulk was born on May 12, 1924, in Irwin County and was the son of Eddie Paulk and Eunie Branch Paulk, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Cara Vola Towson Paulk; one son, Johnny Duard Paulk; four sisters, Versa Cola Hand, Sarah Emeline Bradley, Eunice Louise Cromer and Mary Alice Bruner; and three brothers, John Branch Paulk, Robert Clayton Paulk and William Marion Paulk. He graduated from Tifton High School. He was retired from the United States Postal Service and was also a retired farmer. He was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Joyful Sound Senior Adult Choir and the Lamar Branch Sunday school class. He was an active member of the Old Friends Music Group and was a veteran of the United States Army from 1945-1947, including a tour in Germany. His hobbies were growing flowers and playing music with his friends.

Mr. Paulk is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Carter W. Paulk of Tifton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy Edd and Betty Paulk of Dexter, Mark Ivan and Reyna Paulk of Olivia, North Carolina and Joel Thad and Jan Paulk of Tifton; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Paulk Maw and husband Bryan of Tifton; three step-children, Carol Williams Johnson and husband Billy of Waynesboro, Albert Fred Williams, Jr. of Springfield, Oregon and Charles Richard Williams and wife Nicole of Albany; a step daughter-in-law, Shelly Bevins of Tampa, Florida; six grandchildren, Dennis Paulk, Jonathan Paulk and wife Denise, Melissa Hancock, Joel Paulk, Deneen Paulk and Cara Perdue; four step-grandchildren, Beth Ann Johnson, Rahn Williams, Emily Williams and Taylor Smith; two great-grandchildren, BreAnna Paulk and Riley Hancock; and many nieces and nephews.
