Joseph W. Betley died peacefully on September 16th at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center. He was 93.
Joseph was born in Fall River, and lived in Chelsea and the West End before settling in Winthrop over 50 years ago. During World War II, Joseph served in the Pacific with the US Army and was awarded the Philippine Liberation Medal with two Bronze Service Stars. He worked until his retirement as a manufacturer. He was devoted to his wife and son and enjoyed the company of his many friends.
The beloved husband of Harriet (Sowa) Betley who died in 2000, he leaves his devoted son John Betley of Winthrop.
A private burial service was held at Winthrop Cemetery.
