Lonzell Carrothers, age 66, died Friday, September 27, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. He was born to the late J.C. and Bessie Mae Smalley Carrothers on December 27, 1947 in Coffeeville, MS. He was employed as a truck driver for Elliott Lumber Company in Oxford, MS until his retirement. Lonzell enjoyed fishing, working on cars and spending time with family and friends.
Visitation is planned for Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 5, 2013 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Reverend David Greenlee officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Water Valley, MS with Jerry Bishop, Lakendrith Bishop, Luther Cox, Jametric Judson, Nicolas Kimble, Jermaine Phillips, Michael Smith, and Marcus Woodard serving as pallbearers.
Lonzell is survived by his daughters, Letha Crane (Bob) of Southaven, MS, Beverly Jones of Horn Lake, MS; his son, Lonzell Carrothers, Jr. of Southaven, MS; four sisters, Grace Bishop of Water Valley, MS, Nellie Thompson of Rialto, CA, Mary Watkins and Susan Bailey, both of Memphis, TN; two brothers, Montroy Carrothers of Water Valley, MS and James Carrothers (Loisteen) of Oxford, MS; ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, J.C. Carrothers, Jr. and Monroe Carrothers.
