Obituary

Victor J. Mailloux, Jr., 83, of Salem, NH, passed away peacefully Friday, September 20th at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA.

Victor was born and educated in Methuen, MA, graduating from the Edward F. Searles High School in 1948 and from Springfield College in 1954 earning his Bachelor’s degree. Later he received his Master’s degree in physical therapy from Boston University. He served two years in the US Army, during the Korean War. He was a dedicated family man, loved by all. Victor worked as a physical therapist for the Whittier Rehab in Haverhill, MA for 30 years. In 2005, the gym at the Whittier Rehab was dedicated to him in his honor, chosen by his fellow workers. He started a swimming program for the handicapped in Manchester, NH. He and his wife, Marion, shared sixty beautiful years together. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren, model railroading, gardening, and being with his family. He had served 13 years as the superintendent of the Sunday School at the First Methodist Church in Methuen, MA and served for several years on the Salem Council of Aging. He loved sharing time with his family at the sea shore, and he was a gentle spirited man.

He was predeceased by his son Mark who passed away in 2006.

He is survived by his wife: Marion (Weeks) Mailloux of Salem; two children, Victor III and his wife Bette of Epsom, NH and Marianne Dobens and her husband Christopher of Merrimack, NH; two grandchildren, Anna Marie Dobens and Ian Arsenault.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 1st from 4-7 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 AM at the Hannah Tenney Church, Salem, NH. Burial is in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.
