Obituary

STERLING, MA -- Geraldyne (Cormier) Schofield, age 97, wife of the late William Schofield, died Monday, September 23, 2013, at Sterling Village.
Born in Fairhaven, she was the daughter of the late Moise and Rebecca (Savoie) Cormier. A graduate of St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing, Geri began her career in Admissions at St. Luke's Hospital, and then became an Industrial Nurse at Berkshire-Hathaway Manufacturing in New Bedford, and later at United Merchants and Manufacturers in Fall River. She also furthered her education at Boston University,For many years, she was a resident of Portsmouth, R.I., where she served on the Board of the Multi Purpose Senior Center and was a member of the Montaup Country Club, before moving to Leominster.
For 11 years, Geraldyne was a member of the Leominster Senior Center that provided her with activities, loving care and concern, for which her family is deeply grateful.
Known as "Mammy" to all who loved her, she will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Deardra (DeeDee) Phillips and her husband, Robert; granddaughters, Trefa White and her husband, Robert, Brooke Hansen and her husband, Timothy; and great-grandchildren, Hannah, Benjamin, Tucker, Joshua, and MacKenzie White, Maddison, Maura and Jack Hansen, all of Holden.She is also the sister of Loraine C. Kelley of Hyannis, and the late Patricia "Patty" Taber, and the late Edythe Cormier.
There will be a private graveside service in South Dartmouth Cemetery for her immediate family. It is suggested, remembrances be made in her name to the Leominster Senior Center, 5 Pond St., Leominster, MA 01453. Arrangements are with the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford, MA.
