WORCESTER-Anne T. (Long) Sullivan, 77, of Worcester formerly of 68 Oread Street, died Tuesday, September 14th in Memorial Hospital. Her husband, Joseph M. Sullivan died in 1968. She leaves 2 daughters, Judith A. wife of Thomas P. McCabe and Susan E. Sullivan both of Worcester, 2 grandchildren, Kathryn A. McCabe and Sean Sullivan Larson both of Worcester, her close best friend and cousin, Katie McCarthy of Worcester, many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. Her brother, Edward J. Long and 2 sisters, Bernadette M. Kareski and Catherine Long predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of John J. and Annie M. (Reilly) Long and lived here all of her life. She graduated from South High School and the former Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing and attended Clark University. Mrs. Sullivan worked as a registered nurse for Worcester City Hospital for 35 years, most recently as the Associate Director of Nursing for Ambulatory Services, until retirement in 1991. Previously she held positions as a staff nurse, head nurse and supervisor. She was a member of the W.C.H. alumni, Worcester Diocesan of Catholic Nurses, the Retired State, County & Municipal Employee Association and a member of St. Joseph’s Senior Steppers. She was an incorporator and former board member of Family Health and Social Services and a communicant of Our Lady of the Angels Church, a member of its St. Vincent De Paul Society and its Booster Club. She volunteered at the St. Vincent De Paul Society’s Thrift Store. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, coin collecting, the beach, spending time with her loving family and her dog. She will be sadly missed.
The funeral is Friday, September 17th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial is in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, September 16th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
