Donald R. Peterson, 83, of Ennis Rd., North Oxford, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 in his home. His wife of 44 years; Marilyn E. (Smith) Peterson died in 1999. He leaves 4 children; Iver C. Peterson and his wife Mary Ellen of Webster, Frederick D. Peterson and his wife Jennifer of Whitney Point, N.Y., Johanna M. wife of David S. Lewis of Brockton, and Karen A. wife of Paul Watts of Waltham, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson. Don was born in Sutton son of Axel and Aldea (McCarthy) Peterson. He graduated from Sutton High School and was a Korean War Veteran and served from 1947-1953. Don was a past master and member of Mumford River Lodge of Masons, St. Elmo Chapter Royal Arch and served as past high priest, Worcester Commandry #5, Merriam Order of the Eastern Star and served as past patron, and the Oxford United Methodist Church a member of the choir and was active with the Oxford Ecumenical Food Council and Food Shelf, he also enjoyed fishing and bowling and was known to family and friends as Mr. Fix It.
He worked at the former Norton Co. for 21 years and retired in 1992.
Don’s Funeral will be Friday , September 27, 2013 with a Service at 10 AM in the Oxford United Methodist Church, 465 Main St., Burial with Military Honors will follow in Fuller Cemetery in Sutton.
Calling Hours for Don will be Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 6PM to 8 PM at the ROBERT J. MILLER-OXFORD FUNERAL HOME, 247 Main St.(Route 12 South). A Masonic Ritual will be conducted by Mumford River Lodge will be Thursday at 8 PM in the funeral home.
