Obituary

BELMONT – Richard Louis Bernard, 72, of 39 Dutile Shore Road, died Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Lakes Region General Hospital.

He was born on October 5, 1940 in Lawrence, Mass., the son of Louis O. and Isabella D. (Houle) Bernard. Richard served in the US Coast Guard. He worked as owner and operator of Richard L. Bernard & Son, specializing in building and remodeling. Richard was the former owner of the Lord Hampshire Motel in Winnisquam, where he expanded and converted sections into condos. He was the recipient of the Golden Hammer Award for his work on the Lord Hampshire remodel. Richard enjoyed antique cars and boats, woodworking and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patricia (McKay) Bernard of Belmont, two sons; James D. Dexter and his wife Amy of Colorado and Richard Bernard and his wife Cherie of Salem, NH, three daughters; Charlene Brenner and her husband Karl of Holden, MA, Britini Shields and her husband Derrick of Belmont and Christine Dexter of Derry, eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be private.
