Jean Corrine Strickland, 87, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Sunday, September 22, 2013, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, September 26, 2013, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Ocilla, with the Rev. Paul Guthrie officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery, Ambrose. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Strickland was born June 26, 1926, to the late Alton & Myrtie Parker Barrentine. She was a hairdresser and attended Lax Community Church. She returned to the community in 2007 from Lincolnton, Georgia. Mrs. Strickland loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter: Edna Hutto of Wray; her two sons: Ralph Thomas Black & Cindy of Crown Point, Indiana and Charles Michael Black of Quincy, Illinois; grandchildren: Charles Davis, Jr. & Rhonda of Savannah, Laura Layne & Scott of Bloomingdale, Angela Robitzsch & Tommy of Wray, Tommy Black & Holly of Washington state, Brian Black & Elizabeth of Merrillville, Indiana, Leah Black of Lima, Ohio, Keith Hendricks of Albany, Cindy Black of Chicago, Illinois and Mike Black of Illinois; several great-grandchildren; and one sister: Annie Hutto of Wray. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Billy Strickland; a daughter: Barbara Ann Hendricks; and a brother: Jimmy Barrentine.
