Noella M. Bedard, 83

Noella M. “Lou” (Gervais) Bedard, age 83, of Foxboro, formerly of Mansfield passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at the Ellis Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Norwood. She was the beloved wife of the late Fernand G. “Lefty” Bedard who died on February 22, 1990.
Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on December 22, 1929, she was a loving daughter of the late Lloyd B., Sr. and Cecelia M. (McManus) Gervais. She grew up and was educated in Pawtucket.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Bedard had worked as a floor clerk at the former Bradlee’s Department Store in Foxboro and when younger, after her children started school had worked part time in the shipping department at the former Sweet Manufacturing Co. in West Mansfield.
A resident of Foxboro for nearly 20 years, Lou was actively involved at the Foxboro Senior Center where she was a member of the “serenading seniors”. She was also a former member of TRIAD, a senior citizens affiliation of the Foxboro Police Department.
Mrs. Bedard was a communicant and served as a former Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield. She was a member and past president of the Mansfield Emblem Club and was a former member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Mansfield, and a former member of the Mansfield Band Parents.
Lou’s other interests included reading, knitting and crocheting. She was an avid New England sports fan, the Red Sox and Patriots being her favorite teams to cheer on, and she especially loved times spent with her adoring family and friends.
She is survived by her devoted children, Susan M. Marston and her husband John of Connecticut, Joanne M. McAulay of Norton, Paulette R. Mahoney of Attleboro, Annette C. Kollett and her husband Joseph of Wareham, Leonard R. Bedard and his wife Janet of New Hampshire, Gail A. Denzer and her husband Eric of Fairhaven and the late Michael D. Bedard who passed away on December 31, 1995. She was the dear sister of Mildred Bacchiocchi of Wareham, Eileen King of Nevada, Donat Gervais of Rhode Island and the late Lloyd Gervais, Jr. Mrs. Bedard is also survived by her cherished 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, September, 27th at 9:30 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 26th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Lou’s family has requested that donation in her memory may be made to the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108.
