Obituary

Jeannette Salgado, passed away on September 11, 2013 at 58 years old. She was born in Bronx, New York and was the second youngest of the late Juan and Carmen Salgado. She was raised between Brooklyn, NY and Fajardo, PR. and then settled in Providence, RI.

Jeannette had a passion for art, fashion and make up. She really enjoyed dancing and loved to cook; one of her specialties was Puerto Rican Arepas. She loved all her pets but had a special bond with her bird Petunia for 14 years. To family and friends she was known by her nickname. She had a wonderful sense of humor and always wanted people to feel happy and content. She was always hospitable, even if it meant only sharing a cup of coffee with some arepas.

What was most important in Jeannette’s life was her relationship with Jehovah. She was baptized on June 27, 1981. Her deep love for Jehovah moved her to preach to everyone she came in contact with. Jeannette had strong faith in Jehovah’s promise held out in the bible in Job 14:14, 15 where it states in part “If an able bodied man dies can he live again?.............You will call and I myself shall answer you”. This hope is what kept her positive even during times of distress.

She is survived by her three children: Marcelo and Joel Canales and Carina Holloway; her siblings Maria Garcia, Jackie Salgado, Eve Diaz, Lillian Salgado, Vivian Maldonado, Juan Salgado, Carmen Salgado and David Salgado. She had many nieces and nephews that she loved like her own children. She was predeceased by her parents, Juan and Carmen Salgado, and her brother Luis Garcia.

Jeannette will be deeply missed by her family and friend
