SALVI, Michael Allen, 70, of Needham formerly of Natick and Wellesley, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 from complication of Parkinson's Disease. Born in Dorchester, to Elizabeth and Peter Salvi, he grew up in the town of Wellesley. He lived most of his life in Natick where he and his surviving spouse Judith Salvi, raised their family.
Michael was an incredibly intelligent man, who graduated from UMASS Amherst with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then Married, Judith Winn in 1964. In 1966 Michael was drafted into the Army and served two years in the Army Security Agency, stationed out of Arlington, VA . After his service was completed he began his career then working for Stone and Webster Corporation in Boston, where he retired in 2002.
Besides his wife Judith, Michael is survived by his two children David M. Salvi and his wife Jill of Tampa Fl and Dawn M. Fasciano and her husband Joseph of Needham. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Nicole, William and Harrison; as well as 4 nieces, 2 nephews, several great-nieces and nephews as well as his loving brothers and sister.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Compassionate Care Hospice as well as the dedication and kindness of the staff at Epoch of Chestnut Hill. Their effort to provide quality care over the last 6 months has been a blessing to the family. Though a life taken from us too soon, they thank God for the gift of his years here with us.
Visiting hours to honor Michael, will be held in the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16) WELLESLEY, Friday, September 20 from 4-7 pm. Relatives and friends kindly invited. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 21 at 9 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
