BEVERLY: Margaret T. (Barry) Murray, 87, died peacefully Sunday, September 15, 2013 at her home. She was the wife of the late Ralph P. Murray who died in 2004. They had shared fifty-eight years of marriage.
Born in Beverly on October 19, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Margaret M. (Vigars) Barry. She was a lifelong resident of Beverly and a graduate of Beverly High School.
Margaret worked for the telephone company after graduating from Beverly High School. While raising her children, she was employed at the former Hardie School in Beverly and briefly at Endicott College. She was a wonderful homemaker who liked to sew, bake and knit beautiful ski sweaters for all her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, gardening, camping, skiing, arts and crafts projects, and spending many sunny days at Dane Street Beach. She was a member of the Lothrop Club and active in the Beverly Track Boosters. She also enjoyed traveling with friends and spending some winters in Florida. She felt truly blessed to have so many loving visits from her family on a daily basis.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be deeply missed by her surviving children, Neil M. Murray and his wife, Georgie Collins of Cambridge, Mark S. Murray and his wife, Karen (Kristoff) of Winchester, Kris M. Lauranzano and her husband Michael, Julie A. Frerk and her husband, John all of Beverly and Steven T. Murray and his wife, Patrice (Cavanaugh) of Ipswich, eleven grandchildren, Matthew and Peter Lauranzano, Jacob and Jared Frerk, Jocelyn (Frerk) Larson and her husband, Nick, Chelsae and Dylan Murray, Nate Murray and his wife, Keri, Benjamin, Grant and McKenzie Murray; two great-granddaughters, Wren and Rhys Murray; a brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Dexter and Marion Murray, Barbara Barry and Barbara Grover and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves a very special friend, Jackie Thomson and a special cousin, Terry Mailhoit. She was also predeceased by her brother, Thomas Barry and three brothers-in-law, William and Martin Murray and Ronald Grover.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
