Obituary

SHEEHAN Mary (Cloherty) of Wellesley passed away Sept. 17, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Manor after a long illness. Beloved wife of William J. Sheehan. Daughter of the late Joseph and Delia Cloherty. Mary was a Watertown native and the oldest of 6 children, she is survived by her sisters Barbara Chagon and Margaret Cloherty. Mary was blessed with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was a Nurse whose career began in the O.R. as a supervisor. She then progressed to heart and lung transplant and research at the Overholt Clinic. She attended Boston College and received a Masters Degree, Cum Laude in Nursing. She received a Nursing Certificate from Harvard University. She was an Asst. Professor of Nursing at Boston College. She was Chairman of the Deaconess School of Nursing. After the school closed Mary spent the next 15 years as companion and care giver to her Mother. She was a co- founder of the Voice of the Faithful. Charities such as Catholic Charities, Rosie’s Place, Pine Street Inn, Covenant House and Salvation Army were very important to Mary.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16), WELLESLEY on Friday Sept. 20th. at 9am. Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist, Wellesley Hills at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8pm. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Mary’s memory may be made to your favorite Charity or to Alzheimer’s Assoc. of Mass., New Hampshire.
