HAVERHILL: Robert E. “Bob” Buckland, 86, died Sunday, September 8, 2013 in the Merrimack Valley Hospice House. He was the husband of the late Ethel (Brown) Buckland.
Born in Haverhill on January 7, 1927, he was the son of the late Herbert and Katherine (Cullen) Buckland. He graduated in 1945 from Haverhill High School and also received his Bachelor’s Degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. Bob worked as a Facilities Manager for the former Family Bank in Haverhill for twenty years and previously as a Pharmaceutical Representative. He served as a Corporal for the U.S. Marines until he was honorably discharged in 1948.
He is survived by his two children, Shawn M. Buckland of Haverhill and Lisa A. Buckland of Solon, ME; three grandsons, Morgan Laing Buckland, Brendan Buckland and Bobby Tabor; a brother, Herbert Buckland of Florida; two daughters-in-law, Mary Ellen Buckland of Merrimac and Sheila Buckland of Malden. He was also predeceased by his three sons, Robert W., Derek L., and Cullen Buckland.
A funeral service for Bob will be held on Friday, September 20, 2013 in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill at 7 p.m. A period of visitation will be held prior to the service from 5 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be privately held. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Bob’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
