Obituary

George R. “Lefty” St. Sauveur, 88, of Woonsocket died Monday at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Leonie (Beaulieu) St. Sauveur.
Born in Putnam, Connecticut he was a son of the late Romeo and Leona (Francis) St. Sauveur. He came to Woonsocket as a young child and remained a lifelong resident of the city.
In his early years Lefty was employed in the local textile industry and at the U.S. Rubber shop. He worked for the Woonsocket Highway Department for over 25 years before retiring in 1987.
Lefty was a staunch Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching wrestling and movies and loved listening to music.
Lefty is survived by a daughter Lucille Niles, and her husband Thomas Healey, of Woonsocket, three grandchildren, J. St. Germain of Forestdale, Sherri-Lyn Russell of Woonsocket, and Kimberly Lytle of PA, 5 great-grandchildren Stephen, Natalie, Tucker, Arabella and Zeke. He was the brother of Therese Nordquist of NY, Ronnie St. Sauveur of Mapleville, Judith St. Sauveur and the late Emile St. Sauveur. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather Friday at 10:30 am for a funeral service at 11:00 am in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Thursday from 5-8 pm.
