Sabina “Nella”(Diliddo) Sweeney age 77 of Whitman, formerly of Brockton, died unexpectedly Saturday September 14, 2013 at the South Shore Hospital after a brief illness. Nella was born and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late Joseph and Antoinette (Dailida) Diliddo and was a 1954 graduate of Brockton High School. Since 2006 she had been a resident of Harvard Court in Whitman.
For many years Nella had been a counter lady at College Town Cleaners in Brockton and Regal Dry Cleaners in Whitman. She had also worked as a hostess at George’s Café in Brockton for many years. Nella had been a member of the Harvard Court Residents Association and enjoyed time with her friends and working on puzzles. Nella’s true joy in life was her family, especially spending time with her granddaughter and grand dogs Macy and Maxwell.
Nella was the mother of Ronald E. Sweeney (Abington PD) and his wife Kellie of Whitman and grandmother of Kamryn Sweeney and Christopher Nichols. She was the sister of Joseph “Butch” Diliddo of Brockton and Judith Flynn of Taunton and step-sister of Maryanne Diliddo of California and Cheri Picard of Brockton.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Wednesday 4-8 pm. Her funeral service will be in the funeral home on Thursday at 11 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
