Cecile Marguerite (nee Stedman) Stillman, 93, formerly of North Stonington, passed away quietly Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Mystic Healthcare and Rehab. She was the loving wife of the late Irving Charles Stillman, to whom she was married 66 years. She was a devoted mother and caring grandmother.
Born in North Stonington on April 8, 1920, she was the daughter of George R. and Viola (Brown) Stedman. She was predeceased by her six siblings and by a great-grandchild, Daniel Tarryk.
Cecile was a graduate of the Stonington High School class of 1939. She was full of verve and loved practical jokes and laughter. Cecile and Charlie enjoyed camping at Newfound Lake in New Hampshire and wintering in Florida where they developed many close friendships. A devoted Boston Red Sox fan, Cecile listened to almost every game on the radio into her 90's.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Cecile Diane Saxton of Derby Line, Vt. and Prudence Williams and her husband, Wayne, of North Stonington; her seven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at the Old Mystic Baptist Church, Shewville Rd., Old Mystic. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Old Mystic Baptist Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
