Roy F. Belcher, 95

Dateline: Norton, MA

Roy F. Belcher, age 95, of Norton , formerly of Brockton passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the Marian Manor Nursing Home in Taunton.
He was the Beloved husband of the late Florence L. (Jones) Belcher and the late Eleanor G. (Easton) Belcher.
Born in Brockton, MA on August 8, 1918, he was a loving son of the late Melvin W. and Agnes (Yeaton) Belcher.
Roy grew up and was educated in Brockton and was a 1936 graduate of Brockton High School. He furthered his studies and had attended Wentworth Institute in Boston. During WWII, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Belcher had been employed for over 30 years as a truck mechanic at the former Quinn Freightline in Brockton and was a member of the local 653 Teamsters Union.
A resident of Norton for the past 33 years, he had attended the North Taunton Baptist Church in Taunton and was a faithful member of the former North Baptist Church in Brockton.
He is survived by his devoted daughters, Janet E. Ransom and Barbara A. Belcher both of Brockton and the late Roberta E. Belcher. He was the cherished grandfather of Mark J. Ransom and his wife Nanna, Joanna Ransom, Eleanor Palombizio and her husband Elvis and Jennifer Belcher. He is also survived by 2 great grandsons, Sebastiano and Dominic Palombizio, his step daughters, Carol Anderson of Waltham and Mary Bagas of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday September 19th at 10:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Private burial will be at a later date in the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
Visiting hours on Wednesday, September 18th from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Roy’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the American Diabetes Association, Massachusetts Office, 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02110.
