Isabel M. (Harnden) Bennett, age 85, of Plainville, formerly of Norton passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the Home and Hospice Care Center of Rhode Island. She was the beloved wife of the late Everett E. Bennett, Sr.
Born in Canton, MA on March 29, 1928, she was a loving daughter of the late Herbert W. and Mabel (Leland) Harnden. She grew up and was educated in Norton.
Mrs. Bennett had worked in the deli department at Stop & Shop Supermarkets in North Attleboro for a number of years and had previously been employed for over 20 years in the food service department at Wheaton College in Norton.
Isabel had made her home in Plainville for the past 29 years and formerly resided in Norton for most of her life.
Family was the focal point of her life and she relished the times spent with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Isabel was an avid bingo player and when younger, along with her family had attended the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Norton.
She is survived by her devoted children, Sandra L. Moser and her husband Bill of Yuma, Arizona, Everett E. Bennett, Jr. and his wife Laura of Center Harbor, New Hampshire, Steven C. Bennett and his wife Mary Coulter-Bennett of Stoughton and Donna J. DeLuca and her husband Philip of Tigard, Oregon. She was the adoring foster mother of Barbara Carpentier and her husband Eddie and Sheila Smith. The dear sister of Newell Harnden of Rochester and the late Herbert Harnden, James Harnden, Mabel Kieltyka and Hazel Chastenay, she is also survived by her cherished 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, September 18th at 10:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will follow in the Norton Common Cemetery in Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 17th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
