Alice Young Cox, 80, of Ocilla, Georgia died Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Heritage Healthcare in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, September 15, 2013, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald with the Rev. Dewain Joiner and the Rev. George Paulk officiating. Her grandson, the Rev. Jeremy Cox, will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Mystic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Cox was born June 8, 1933, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Owen and Nancy Handley Young. She was a homemaker and loved her family dearly. She enjoyed raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her five sons and daughters-in-law: Bo & Connie Cox of Mystic, Royce & Dixie Cox of Moultrie, Rayford & Patti Cox of Adel, Richard Cox of Fitzgerald, and Jimmy & Judy Cox of Ocilla; her daughters: Brenda Diane Puckett & her friend Rodney Reynolds and Joyce Suggs, both of Fitzgerald; 26 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister: Daisy Lee Connell and her husband William of Cairo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Carl Rastus Cox, Sr.; two granddaughters: Charity Faith Cox Smith and Wendy Michelle Cox Roberts; and a great-grandchild: Dylan Sirmans.
