Dr. McClellan was born May 8, 1949, to the late Elizabeth and Francis McClellan, a DuPont receptionist and sheet metal worker respectively. Growing up in Weymouth, Dr. McClellan earned academic and athletic notoriety, winning state titles in track and field as well as leading his basketball team to play in the Boston Garden. Upon graduating Bowdoin Magna cum Laude in 1971, Dr. McClellan took his talents to Philadelphia to attend the prestigious University of Pennsylvania Medical School. While in Philadelphia, he spun records on the side under the moniker “DJ Mad Mac from Boston.” His love for music never waned and his ability to name songs and artists was always unmatched.

After finishing at UPenn in 1975, Dr. McClellan headed back to Massachusetts where he performed his internship and residency at New England Medical Center (now Tufts) and met nurse Catherine (Gallagher) Teal.
