Carmen Louise Blakely, 80, of Bedford, formerly of Amherst died on September 10, 2013 following a period of declining health. She was born in St. Jean, Québec, Canada on March 23, 1933, the daughter of Placide and Aldéoda (Campbell) Hébert. She immigrated to Manchester NH with her family at the age of 6 from their home in Bedford, Québec, Canada. She graduated from St. George’s High School in Manchester.
Prior to retirement, she was the Human Resources manager for Kayem Foods in Chelsea, MA formerly Catelli-Habitant in Manchester, NH. She was a past president of the Amherst Lioness Club. She enjoyed her perennial garden and playing golf. She was an avid fan of the Bedford Bulldogs and Souhegan Sabers and enjoyed going to games watching her grandchildren play sports. She will be remembered as a loving and generous mother, grandmother, and sister. She was happiest spending time with her family and took great pride in the accomplishments of all of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Peter Blakely and his wife Hideko Kataoka, two daughters and their husbands, Karen and Bill St. Onge, Paula and James Caparell, five grandchildren, Carla Blakely Collins and her husband Cornelius Collins, Brian Conti, Benjamin Blakely, Lauren Conti, and James Caparell, two sisters, Lucile Hébert and Huguette Deteen, two brothers Dr. Normand Hébert, Denis Hébert and his wife Carol and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Fernand Hébert who died in 1977.
The funeral was held on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. Burial followed in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
