Obituary

Danvers- James J. McCarthy, 82, passed away on September 10, 2013 in Putnam Farms Assisted Living in Danvers. He was the beloved husband of Joanne (Gagnon) McCarthy with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.
Born in Waltham on September 13, 1930, he was the son of the late William Christopher and Josephine (Riley) McCarthy. Mr. McCarthy served our country during the Korean War with the United States Army. He was a resident of Danvers for over 41 years and was a communicant of the St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish. He had been employed at M.I.T. in the Business School Department as a senior financial analyst for many years.
Besides his wife Joanne, he is survived by four children, Donna and Steven Miller of Gloucester, John and Catherine McCarthy of MI, Christine and James Stevens II of ME and Maureen and Carl Bergstrom of NH, a sister, Carol Beaulieu and her husband Robert of Beverly, seven grandchildren, David, Steven, Ethan and Colin McCarthy, James Stevens III, Sara Dutra and Kaitlyn Bergstrom, and a great grandson Jonathan. He was predeceased by his brother William McCarthy.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, September 14, 2013 in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant Street, Danvers. Burial is private and there are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers expression of sympathy may be made in Jim’s name to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA, 01923. Arrangement made by C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.
