Obituary

NATICK: Leo Joseph Poisson, 82, died peacefully on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester following a brief illness.
He was born in Brighton on March 10, 1931 the son of the late Gustave Poisson and Cecile (DeBlois) Poisson.
Leo was the devoted husband for 58 years of the late Norma E. (Lane) Poisson who died on June 12, 2012.
He was the loving father of Catherine A. McMullen of Ashland and the late David A. Poisson who died in 2009. He was the beloved grandfather of Shaun Poisson of Natick; Shana Poisson of Worcester; Patrick Poisson of Framingham; Jeff Poisson of Wilmington, NC and Alyssa Poisson of Wilmington, NC. The cherished great-grandfather of Olivia, Damien, Ryan and Mace Poisson. He was the brother of Rene J. Poisson and his wife Rose Poisson of Wayland; Henry Poisson of Auburn, ME; Francis J. Poisson and his wife Patricia Poisson of Wayland; Annette Lazili of Warren, MA and Irene Mailhiot of Hull. Father-in-law of Ellen S. Poisson of Wilmington, NC. Brother of the late Lucille Mercurio and brother-in-law of the late Julie Poisson; Francis Mailhiot; Rabah Lazili and John Mercurio. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Leo spent his formative years in Waltham and was a graduate of Waltham High School. He served his country with honor as a Sergeant with the United States Army during the Korean War. He has been a resident of Natick for nearly 60 years.
For many years he was the proprietor with his brother-in-law of the Bill and Leo’s service Station in Wayland Center. He more recently has been associated with Adesa of Framingham as an automotive technician and enjoyed the many friends he was associated with at Adesa. Leo loved his Friday evening dinners with his family, his Sunday morning breakfasts with other family members as well as the special card parties. Leo was an accomplished speed skater and skated long blades at the West Suburban Arena in Natick. He was a member of a bowling team at the former Sudbury Bowladrome and also liked square dancing. He was a collector of older cars and especially enjoyed his 1959 corvette. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle to his family and will be fondly remembered by all of them.
Visitations will be held on Friday, September 13, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Rd (Off Rte 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 9:00 followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherin’s Church, 99 Main Street (Rte 27), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Poisson family lot in Dell Park Cemetery in Natick.
In lieu of flowers, his family suggests that memorial gifts in Leo’s memory be sent to UMASS Memorial Foundation/ Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, 333 South Street, Shrewsbury, MA 02545 or to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 480 Pleasant St, Watertown, MA 02472.
