John A. Martin, 63, of Tewksbury, MA died September 8, 2013 in the Tewksbury Hospital. John was born in Somerville, MA on September 22, 1949, a son of Mary (O’Leary) Martin and the late John W. Martin. John had resided in Tewksbury since 1972, formerly of Somerville. He was educated in Somerville and graduated in 1968 from St. Clement’s High School. He worked as an antiques and jewelry dealer. In his younger days, John was an amateur boxer, a runner and all around athlete. He was an artist and enjoyed painting and spending time in the outdoors. John had a great sense of humor, was a terrific story teller and could always be heard speaking highly of his four daughters and his family.
John’s family wish to thank the staff of the Tewksbury Hospital for the loving care they gave to John throughout the years.
He is survived by his four daughters, Jennifer Ready of Derry, NH, Jacqueline Martin of Plaistow, NH, Jadin Martin of Albany, NY, and Jonna Martin of Graham, NC, three grandchildren, Rachael and Kyle Ready, and Lhana Lee, his mother, Mary T. Martin of Derry, two sisters, Susan Kretschmer and her husband Dutch of Laconia, NH, and Pam Martin of Derry, one brother, Dennis Martin of Millinocket, ME, several nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends at Tewksbury Hospital. John also leaves his first wife, Joan and his second wife, Jovenna. He was predeceased by his father, John W. Martin in 2000.
Calling hours were held Wednesday September 11, 2013 from 5 – 7:30pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes, 15 Birch St., Derry. A prayer service was offered Wednesday at 7:30pm in the funeral home. Private burial was in Great Hill Cemetery, Chester. Memorial donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater NE Chapter, 101A First Ave, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451.
